The basics for SPiCE-Lite were developed at the TU-Graz, Institute for Software Technology in a project under the lead of Prof. Volkmar Haase.

Together with the company SynSpace AG from Binningen, Switzerland, the first version of SPiCE-Lite was created at the end of 1994 in a project lead by Dr. Hans Stienen.
